Current social groups



D&D Gaming Group



Dungeons & Dragons Gaming Group (once a week) focuses on playing with a Dungeon Master who facilitates social-skills themed adventures. The ideal group member is one who needs advanced socialization and/or skills in competition. 


Social skills include emotion regulation, persepctive taking, and more!


The curriculum teaches how to play D&D where one individual wins and the others lose, turn-taking elicits input from players, and scenarios provide teachable moments in applying social skills to defeat challenges. Skills can be directly applied to school and home challenging events.


Sessions are up to 2-hours. Please inquire about per session fees.


Age groups are 11-17 and 18+.



Collaborative Gaming Group



Collaborative Gaming Group (once a week) focuses on team playing. It is based on Zen of Groups by Dale Hunter, Art of Facilitation by Hunter & Bailey, and Social Thinking (R)* (Social Thinking and Me by Winner and Murphy). 


Games include Fuse, Pandemic, and more!


The curriculum teaches gaming (traditional and/or video-based) where the group wins or loses, turn-taking elicits input from team members, and reduces temptation of excessive competition. Skills are directly correlated to school, home and workplace expectations.


Sessions are 1.5-hours and are $38 per session.


Age group is 11 - 14.



Competitive Gaming Group



Competitive Gaming Group (once a week) focuses on playing with one winner. The ideal group member is one who needs advanced socialization and/or skills in competition. 


Games include King of Tokyo, Tokaido, and more!


The curriculum teaches gaming (traditional and/or video-based) where one individual wins and the others lose, turn-taking elicits input from players, and scenarios provide teachable moments in winning and losing with good sportsmanship. Skills are directly correlated to school, home and workplace expectations.


Sessions are 1.5 hours and are $38 per session.


Age group is 11 to 17.



Girls Group



Designed for girls age 14-18 with social communication challenges. We will explore a variety of topics such as friendships, hygiene, and life management using a variety of approaches. We will use the context of the group for learning through role-play, cooperative gaming, and general discussion.


Sessions are 1.5 hours and are $38 per session.


Age group is 14 to 17.



Prerequisites





  • Participants must be able to communicate (verbally or by assistive technology) at a 5th grade level
  • They must be able to follow basic safety guidelines
  • Participants have to be willing to be in social situations but not necessarily comfortable
  • Participation needs to come from the recommendation of a counselor or a brief free consultation will be scheduled to determine appropriateness of fit


How to sign up for groups





  • To sign up for any group, click here.
  • Click on an open appointment slot to sign up. If no slots are available, please try a different time range. To cancel an appointment slot you've already booked, leave this sign-up page and delete the event from your own calendar.
  • Be aware that appointment slots used in social groups are not for a specified time but for a spot in the group. Refer to the title or the above calendar for the meeting time and duration.
  • The appointment calendar is in weekly view and you may need to advance to the next week. To sign up for multiple weeks, you must sign up for each week.


Fee payment schedule





  • Groups are due one week after attended session except for online and field trip groups. Online subscription is due on the 1st of every month and field trip fees are due before departure.
  • Participants can pre-pay $150 per week/month and attend any 4 sessions like a cafeteria plan.
  • At this time we are not accepting insurance for social groups.
